Meet the leadership team of Niugini Assurance

Prashant Shastri holds a Bachelor of Commerce and Law degree. He is currently a director of PNG Power and a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

With over 36 years of experience in the PNG Private and Government business sectors, Prashant possesses a depth and breadth of knowledge. He worked for Touche Ross and KPMG joining HLB Niugini (now known as PGS Niugini) in 2004.

Prashant’s experience includes liaison with quasi-government organisations and managing an extensive portfolio of clients, ranging from small to large entities.

Cedric holds a Diploma in Business Management, is an Associate of the PNG Institute of Management.

Cedric worked for Hastings Deering for over 40 years, including 18 years as an Executive Manager responsible for Parts Operations for both PNG and Solomon Islands, a company specialising in support of a range of industries including mining, general construction, civil transport and commercial construction, power generation systems, government, primary industries and marine.

He is presently a Director of Kumul Telikom Holdings PNG and Chairman of two subsidiary entities, Datec and PNG Directories.

Mr Opi Loi holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Deakin University, Melbourne, Australia (majoring in Marketing and Insurance). He is Fellow of ANZIIF with CIP status and a member of the PNG Institute of Directors.

Opi has held senior positions in claims, underwriting, broking, account management and general management roles at companies such as Aon, Heath Lambert, Fortis Limited, and Pacific MMI.

With over 30 years of experience in the insurance industry, he has been responsible for implementing a number of initiatives, including marketing plans, business growth strategies, new business development, operating policies and customer service delivery.

As the Head of Underwriting at Niugini Assurance, Vai Velena brings considerable expertise to his role. His areas of expertise include underwriting, claims, marketing and reinsurance.

Vai is a certified insurance professional with over 30 years of experience. He comes from Maopa Village, which is along the beautiful coast of Aroma (Aroma Coast), Abau District, in the Central Province.

Mr Jack Vai offers a wealth of experience in financial management, audits, taxation, compliance and investments.

An Associate of ANZIIF and an Associate member of CPA PNG, Jack Vai holds a Bachelor of Accounting from the University of Papua New Guinea.

A financial professional with over 25 years of experience in the insurance industry, Jack has held senior finance and accounting roles in PNG.

His industry experience includes finance roles with Pacific Re, Century Insurance, AIG, and Heath Lambert.
