A lawyer, Matthew May has a B. Comm/LLB from the University of NSW and is a member of the Law Society of NSW and PNG. He has been active as a corporate lawyer in Papua New Guinea for over 30 years, with key relationships spanning the public, government and private sectors.
In addition to his role as a chairman of Niugini Assurance Group Ltd, Matthew is the Chairman and Founder of May International Pty Limited. He is currently a director of TKI (a significant Tabubil based mining services group).
Previously, Matthew was a director of Ok Tedi Royalty Trust (a Tabubil based landowner trust) and Kumul Consolidated Holdings Limited. He was also a managing partner for international law firm Blake Dawson in PNG (now known as Ashurst) and advised institutions such as PNG Power, Kumul Holdings and Air Niugini.
Matthew regularly advises on a number of different matters in PNG, covering regulatory, governance, major resource projects and capital structure (both debt and equity).
